Toques & Clochers
DATE: 31st March 2012 LIMOUX
This is an annual event of the Limoux region covering 41 villages, held on Palm Sunday weekend.
The event is a weekend of sampling local wines, feasting, networking, music and enjoying the surrounds of the host village, which this year happens to be Limoux. One may purchase wines which are auctioned off, each region being represented.
The Toques refers to the tall chef's hats and each year the festival is attended by a Michelin chef who oversees the gastronomical side of the feast. The Clochers refers to the bells of the church towers which are the beneficiaries of the funds raised by the auctioned wine.

Tour de France
DATE: 15 July 2012 LIMOUX
2011 saw the introduction of 15 new 'stage' towns for the Tour de France. Limoux, for the second year running, will be the starting point of a stage - stage 14 of the race and after 192 kilometers the peloton will end in Foix. Riders will face gradients of up to 14%!

Bugarach
DATE: 21 December 2012 BUGARACH
According to the Mayan calendar, the world will end on 21 December 2012 after a 5,125 year cycle. New Age believers think they can escape this if they are at Bugarach at the time. The village is preparing for an influx of believers...

Bugarach is approximately 30 km from Cambieure and the mountain can be seen from here. It has an unusual shaped top and, apparently, inspired Steven Spielberg for the movie 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' .
